Retinal Artery Occlusion or Central Retinal Artery Occlusion is a disease of the eye in which the blood flow through the central retinal artery gets blocked (occluded). There are different versions but the most common is called carotid artery atherosclerosis.
The Signs and Symptoms
With Retinal Artery Occlusion can cause sudden and acute with painless loss of vision. A Fundoscopic exam will show a red lesion, called a “cherry red spot” with a pale retina surrounding the area.
