Garima Lal, M.D., P.A

Dr. Lal graduated from Washington University in St. Louis with a B.A. degree in both Biology and Psychology. She graduated from the University of Oklahoma School of Medicine with Distinction. She received Alpha Omega Alpha honor for medical research. After completing her M.D. degree, Dr. Lal then completed her internship in Internal Medicine at The Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. She then went on to finish her general ophthalmology residency at the Mayo Clinic where she also served as chief resident.

Dr. Lal then served as a pediatric ophthalmology/adult motility fellow and as Clinical Instructor at the nation’s top pediatric ophthalmology and Strabismus fellowship program at the Medical University of South Carolina’s Storm Eye Institute.

During her training at the Mayo Clinic and the Storm Eye Institute, she worked with world-renowed mentors in all aspects of her field, and performed surgeries at the US NEWS and WORLD REPORT’s number one ranked hospital in the country.

Her research has been published in numerous journals, including Ophthalmology, Journal of AAPOS, and the American Journal of Ophthalmology. Dr. Lal has presented her work at national meetings, including the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO), American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, American Academy of Ophthalmology, and the American Association for Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus.

She has been awarded for her work on pediatric cataracts, and has been invited to speak as an honorary lecturer at national meetings to Pediatricians.

She is Board Certified with the American Board of Ophthalmology, and an active member and Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Association for Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus, American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, the American Medical Association, and the American Academy of Pediatrics.

She is the recipient of the AMA Foundation Leadership Award, and has served on the American Medical Association Governing Council Board. She is also named as one of the “Top Ophthalmologists in America” by the Consumer Research Council of America. She is currently serving on several committees of the American Association of Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus (AAPOS) including the Corporate Relations Committee and the Legislative Committee
